"Built about 1760 by Dr. Haven, who was pastor of the South Parish from 1752 to 1806. Dr. Haven was born in Framingham, Mass., in 1727. He was a warm patriot and an exemplary pastor. He dies in 1806, his wife surviving him but a few hours.

"The house was originally a two-story building with a gambrel rood. It was altered to its present form early in this century. An elm, more than a hundred years old, stood in front of it until within a few years."
